100 weeks to go!
i figure that i have to live with my parents for about 100 more weeks while i finish this whole school thing. for some reason 100 weeks sounds better than 2 years. manageable chunks of my life i guess. i'm looking to find better ways to cope with this parental suburb situation than eating large amounts of icecream and banging my head against the wall. i thought maybe a weekly countdown would be nice... with little summaries of what i have had to endure during the week...

so, for week 100: i slammed my finger, thumb actually, in the door of my friend's car. she had to unlock and open the door for me to remove my digit. we then piled back into the car, thumb bleeding, for the trip to the ER. 4 hours later we leave. probable fracture, splint, cracked and still oozing thumbnail, tetanus shot, numbed thumb, 3 x-rays, antibiotics, painkillers, $4.00 in ER beverages consumed, elevate and ice for 48 hours, fashionable hospital bracelet. next stop hotcake house 11:45pm, i haven't eaten for 10 hours.

this will delay my bike purchase for at least a couple weeks. i cannot grip anything heavier than a piece of paper with my left hand. i mostly just hold it up by my shoulder, so it is elevated and throbs less. this is really tragic since i have given up driving my car and am really looking forward to the whole bike thing. for now i will just keep hiking out of the far reaches of suburbia to the fringe of civilized society where a bus runs about every hour. this walking situation led me to standing in the restroom at work this morning drying the rain out of my pants under the hand dryer.
